IWI REGISTRATION

PURPOSE

The purpose of registration is ensure Whanganui Iwi have the ability to communicate effectively with its Whanau, Whanganui nui tonu.

Currently the Trust Board is the administrator of the database the main uses of the database are to:

  • Communicate more effectively with Whanganui Whanau around the motu and the world
  • Assist the processes required of the Trust Board in relation to the progress of the Whanganui River Settlement
  • Communicate with Whanau in relation to the activities of other Whanganui Trusts such as Te Whiringa Muka and Pakaitore Trust.

The information we collect from you such as contact details are entered into our own electronic database.
This database stores only the information you give us, so if your contact details change, you need to let us know.

Forms are designed to register members and their whānau.  Those over the age of 18 years of age are classified as adults and required to complete their own form.

Iwi Registration eligibility recognizes all descendants (by birth or adoption including formal adoption or customary Maori adoption) who can whakapapa (show evidence of genealogical connection) to one or more hapu of Whanganui Nui Tonu.

 

Due to validation rules Iwi Registration forms must contain the signature of the persons registering, for this reason please print the form below and return it by post to:
